This week was marred by the death of one of the most influential human beings on the planet, Dolly Parton.
She was a legend, an icon, and one of the greatest humanitarians to ever live.
And, of course, the “influencers” had to make it about themselves, posting “reaction” videos about Dolly’s death.
How utterly soulless do you have to be to look at the death of one of the greatest human beings, artists, and philanthropists this planet has ever known and think, “How can I monetize this?”
And let’s be very clear: I am NOT talking about people sharing their own grief, their own memories, their own stories, or their own reactions.
Please. Keep THOSE coming.
Those are human. Those are meaningful. Those are how we process loss together.
I’m talking about the people filming themselves telling other people that Dolly died just to capture their reactions.
What the actual f*ck?
If those reactions are real, then you’ve reduced someone’s death to a piece of entertainment and exploited another person’s grief for clicks.
If they’re staged or fake, then congratulations. You’ve somehow managed to make the whole thing even more disgusting.
Either way, you’re using Dolly’s death as clickbait.
There is something profoundly broken about seeing the death of a beloved human being and immediately seeing it as an opportunity for engagement.
Dolly Parton deserved better than that.
And frankly, so do the people you’re using to manufacture your content.
Have some f*cking dignity, you talentless twatwaffle.
Hopefully next week will be better.
Take care!
