In the span of just 1 year, 8 months, and 1 week, Snow Man transformed from the cool younger brothers sharing the stage with SixTONES during their agency’s historic first double debut into one of the most commercially dominant and lucrative acts in modern J-pop. After four explosive releases that steadily expanded the group’s sound, ambition, and audience, Snow Man were finally ready to take the next step: the release of their very first studio album.

Released on 29 September 2021 through Avex Trax, 『Snow Mania S1』 took its name from the collision of “Snow Man” and “mania,” reflecting the feverish excitement surrounding the group’s explosive rise to superstardom. Crafted as both a celebration of their whirlwind debut era and an entry point for new audiences, the album aimed to immerse listeners completely in the rapidly growing phenomenon that had transformed Snow Man into some of the coolest stars in modern J-pop.

While both Version A and Version B shared the same core fifteen-track foundation, each edition offered its own distinct sonic experience through dramatically different bonus material. Much like the group’s previously released singles, those variations encouraged listeners to explore multiple sides of Snow Man and their ever-expanding musical identity.

Prior to its official release on 『Snow Mania S1』, 「Make It Hot」 had already become familiar to many fans through its inclusion in Takizawa Kabuki 2020: The Movie. The track was also used as the theme song for the drama series 『簡単なお仕事です。に応募してみた』(English: We Applied for an Easy Job), which starred group members Hikaru Iwamoto, Raul, Shota Watanabe, and Ren Meguro.

Equal parts comedy, mystery, and psychological chaos, 簡単なお仕事です。に応募してみた begins with a deceptively simple premise before spiraling into something increasingly bizarre and unsettling. Strange, stylish, and unexpectedly creepy, the series was an early showcase of Snow Man’s on-screen charisma long before the group exploded into full superstardom.

The video disc collected every major music video from Snow Man’s explosive debut era, tracing the group’s rapid evolution from the icy swagger of 「D.D.」 to the pastel-colored romance of 「HELLO HELLO」 and their explosive 「EVOLUTION」, the collection showcased just how dramatically both the act’s image and artistry had transformed during their first two years as J-pop superstars.

One of the most exciting inclusions, however, was the complete version of 「Snow World」, which had previously only been available through an abbreviated cut on YouTube. Originally released as a coupling song for the group’s debut single, the bright and infectious track offered a playful contrast to the sleek sophistication that would later become one of Snow Man’s defining trademarks.

Commercially, 『Snow Mania S1』 became another monumental success for the group. Debuting at number one on the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart it moved more than 840,000 physical copies during its first week alone and would eventually surpass the million-sales mark. Critically, the album was praised for successfully balancing the polished spectacle of Snow Man’s blockbuster singles with the emotional sincerity and stylistic variety showcased throughout its deeper cuts.

Yet even with the overwhelming success of their debut album, Snow Man wasted no time stepping into their next chapter, charging headfirst into a sophomore era that would push the group’s ambition, scale, and popularity even further.

There will be more Snow Man soon so…
