Just when I thought lightning couldn’t strike twice… it did! Nearly two short weeks after celebrating Travis Japan’s 2nd CD single release (「陰ニモ日向ニモ」), I was able to celebrate Snow Man’s 13th, and it wasn’t just another single, it was their first TRIPLE A-side, BANG!! / SAVE YOUR HEART / オドロウゼ  !

So I did what any good fan would do—I woke up early and caught the first train I could to Shibuya, determined to get the full Snow Man experience at Tower Records Japan. And it was absolutely worth it.

Just like with TJ, there was a display on the first floor—small, but impossible to ignore. Fans had already gathered around it, carefully staging photos with plush versions of their oshi, excited to be included in the momentous occasion..

Then it  hit me.

I’d left mine behind. My little Meme—back at home, completely missing the photo-op moment with the group. Sad, yes, but I will allow myself a little grace as I’m still new to living in Japan, and the bulk of my purchases have been done online.

Moving on I picked up all three versions of the single and made my way upstairs to the idol floor (4).

With timelesz dropping their sophomore album MOMENTUM on the same day, the entire floor was overflowing—fans, displays, tourists… everything, everywhere, all at once colliding into one overwhelming rush of ice-cold awesomeness.

As one of the biggest groups in the country, Snow Man had things locked down—you needed to ballot just to secure a timeslot for photos with their display. I had no idea, didn’t enter, and just like that… there was no photographic proof I’d even been there.

And just like that…. My entire excursion was RUINED!

…Kidding. I had what I came for. I made my purchase and rushed home to listen.

As expected, the songs were fantastic.

Serving as the theme for TV Asahi’s Saturday night drama MY DEAR ROBOT, starring Ryota Miyadate (alongside Travis Japan’s Machu), 「SAVE YOUR HEART」 instantly became one o\f my new favorites from the group.

Even with MeMe absent from the music video—tied up filming season two of Shōgun—the remaining eight members rise to the occasion, bringing an energy that’s impossible to ignore. And the video is still hot AF (Hi, Iwamoto).

Sorry Meme…

「BANG!!」 is exactly the kind of chaotic pop anthem you expect from Snow Man—fast, loud, and completely addictive. It’s pure, ice-cold adrenaline, and easily another instant favorite.

Serving as the theme for his new feature film SAKAMOTO DAYS, the track puts MeMe front and center in the music video—and he absolutely owns it. But honestly, my favorite moment isn’t even about him. It’s SnowMart—a playful nod to FamilyMart. And as someone who’s slightly obsessed with that convenience store, I just loved it.

Last, but certainly not least 「オドロウゼ!」 (English: “Let’s Dance!”) celebrates finding happiness in everyday life.  Featured as the theme song for the theatrical release The Specials, starring group member Daisuke Sakuma, the track explores how even  the most mundane moments can be transformed through laughter, turning the ordinary into extraordinary.

As with all STARTO artist singles (and most Japanese releases in general) there were multiple versions of the release, and while sonically the only variation was on the regular (CD only) version, each disc offered something all fans could get excited about in standard DVD format.

As much as I love 「STARS」 seeing it included here—even with a slightly different cut of the music video—felt a bit less exciting than I’d hoped. It’s still a fantastic track; I just found myself wishing for something I hadn’t already experienced.

That said, the extras more than made up for it. From the sticker sheet to the lenticular card—and even a set of chopsticks—the physical release felt thoughtfully put together and all is one I’m more than happy to have in my collection. 10 out of 10!

While not everything from the group is available for streaming/download, a good portion of it is! You can check out their music below.

There will be more Snow Man soon so…

Stay Tuned!
