Over the weekend The World Music Awards reported that Japanese idol group Naniwa Danshi hit #1 on the United World Album Charts with the sales of their debut album 1st Love.
Signed under Johnny & Associates, the album, released July 13, 2022, has sold over 641,000 copies – impressive considering the sales are physical units only.
The group’s first two singles “Ubu LOVE” and “The Answer” were both #1 on the Oricon Singles Charts in Japan.
To date, the group has sold over 1.14 million physical units combined singles and album sales worldwide.
