For the past twelve years, J-pop group WEST. has been a staple of STARTO ENTERTAINMENT.
However, it was announced yesterday that the group will officially disband on 30 September. Over the course of their storied career, WEST. released 24 physical singles, 11 studio albums, one best-of collection, more than 40 official music videos, and one digital single.
The news follows the recent announcement that members Nozomu Kotaki and Ryusei Fujii would be departing the group, and while it’s easy to speculate, point figures, and say “This is why this happened…” The most important thing people should truly focus on is what the members themselves have said about the closing of this chapter and how they feel about one another.
Their statements, available on the company’s FAMILY CLUB Web subscription service, are beautiful and touching essays that show a group of men who have nothing but love for one another, and the fond memories they have of their time together in the trenches of the entertainment industry.
And all of them will be remaining with STARTO. It may be the end of an era – but not the end of the story.
