I took a bit of time for some self-reflection this week. I’m still processing the death of a child-hood friend, while at the same time focussing on everything happening in my present. Life is busy, but in the best way possible.
One of my dearest friends was visiting Japan and we got to spend a healthy amount of time together which was honestly something I really needed. She’s such a bright and infectious ball of energy that it didn’t take her long to get me out of my shell and exploring the world around me. This included helping me finish up the last of my government paperwork which was the exemption for pension tax here in Japan.
The reimagingings of the Jem and the Holograms songs also took me back to my old cassette tapes, and I’ve been listening to the original releases – and I truly am astounded at how well they’ve stood the test of time. They’re just a lot of fun.
At the suggestion of a friend, I also picked up the animated series Rick and Morty – which has been playing in the background as I’ve been writing this last week. It’s an absolutely ridiculous series, but a lot of fun.
I’ve been talking to the original character designer for My Super Fiancé and he’s agreed to pick up the remaining pieces of art for the book, which makes me very VERY happy. I think it will be a lot of fun. He’s incredibly talented and is familiar enough with the property that it should be a smooth transition.
There’s a JoDee Messina song “I’m Alright.” and it very much fits how I’m feeling right now. I’m going to take the next week to reset, but then I’ll be back in full swing.
