Unexpectedly Naughty Fukami (やたらやらしい深見くん) is easily one of the most unapologetically NSFW anime series I’ve come across. While I haven’t read the original manga, it’s not hard to imagine that the source material pushes things even further into explicit territory.

Plain and simple, it’s smut.

That’s not a criticism—just a reality I had to keep in mind as I sat down to watch the first episode of its live-action adaptation on Tokyo MX.

The story follows Kaji—a vain, sharply judgmental corporate ace in his company’s sales division—who prides himself on polish, perception, and being several steps ahead of everyone else. That carefully curated worldview begins to crack when, during a business trip, he ends up in an unexpected hookup with Fukami, a colleague he had previously written off as an absolute zero.

Episode one sticks fairly close to the anime, though its more risqué moments are given an almost charmingly television-safe makeover.

The series stars Atsuki Kashio (樫尾篤紀) as Kaji, delivering exactly what you’d expect from a self-absorbed corporate heartthrob—polished, confident, and just a little too aware of it. Opposite him, Yu Miyazaki (宮崎湧) brings Fukami to life with a performance that’s equal parts understated and quietly magnetic, capturing the character’s unexpected allure with ease.

While the episodes run more than twice the length of the original six-minute anime, they still feel fleeting. There’s something to be said for these bite-sized installments—they leave you wanting more. It’s undeniably charming, and I’m genuinely excited to see where it goes next.
