Naniwa Danshi is that group I turn on whenever I need a mood boost. Their sugar-sweet sound and cool crystal-clear voices make them the perfect group to help you smile. In their newest music video “Make Up Day” the group painted with a pastel palette of pure youthful energy and joy.
The theme song to the new NTV romantic dramedy “Beni Sasu Life” which stars group member Ryusei Onishi, it’s a step back to the candy-colored sounds after the group’s steamy “LAI-LA-LA” track from their hit sophomore album POPMALL.
The relatively simple music video focuses on the strength of the guy’s dancing and the group’s power of their vocal abilities. Sonically, “Make Up Day” is a pretty straightforward pop song mixing dance beats with a hint of disco inspiration that seems to be making its way through the various groups at Johnny & Associates – and I am here for it!
In short, it’s bubble-gum pop perfection!
The double A-side is paired with “Missing” – the theme song to group member Daigo Nishihata’s new mystery drama “Knockin’ on Locked Door” co-starring Hokuto Matsumura of SixTONES. A physical CD of “Make Up Day / Missing” will be released on September 13, 2023, available wherever Japanese CDs are sold and coming in 3 different versions containing additional songs and behind-the-scenes video content! Per order the disc directly through CD Japan.
