One of the things I love about SixTONES is that if I hit shuffle on their music, no two songs are going to sound the same. Though technically, yes, they’re a pop group, they can slip effortlessly into rock, rap, and even sprinkle in a little 90s grunge for fun. For their tenth single, “KOKKARA” – which loosely translates to “from here on out,” the guys strip down (the music) and add some funk to their super-slick signature sound.
It’s the perfect song to kick off summer too.
“KOKKARA” is the theme of the new NTV drama “Passion for Punchlines,” which teams SixTONES member Shintaro Morimoto with fellow Johnny’s artist Kaito Takahashi of King & Prince as real-life comedy duo Tarinai Futari.
A physical disc version drops on 14 June wherever Japanese CDs are sold, featuring additional bonus “FIREWORKS,” “Tu-tu-lu,” the Dark Electro Rock Remix of “ABARERO” – which I am SO EXCITED for – as well as behind-the-scenes video extras!
