Born on the 15th of July, Shintaro Morimoto (森本慎太郎) is one of the six incredibly talented members of the Japanese Pop idol group SixTONES. Tall, dark, and handsome, he’s also breathing, which means he checks all the boxes for what I look for in a man! Sadly, Morimoto (like most of my MCM Men) has no idea I exist. Still, he’s this week’s Man Crush, so let’s get to know him.

At the age of nine, Morimoto became one of the rare individuals who were signed to Johnny & Associates without having to audition. He was initially a part of the Jr. unit Tap Kids with his older brother, Ryutaro, a former member of the popular idol group Hey! Say! JUMP.

In 2009 he was cast in his first starring role in the feature film “Snow Prince – Forbidden Love Melody.” Based on the beloved 1872 novel “A Dog of Flanders,” it also weaves in inspiration from the 1971 film “A Small Love Melody.”

In 2012, he was cast in the television drama “Shiritsu Bakaleya Koukou” alongside Kochi Yugo, Kyomoto Taiga, Matsumura Hokuto, Jesse, and Tanaka Juri – all six of whom would eventually become a part of the history-making idol group SixTONES!

While the six got along and worked really well together, in the beginning, they were called Bakaleya6 (a name originating from the drama) and were an unofficial group. It was not until Johnny’s Ginza 2015 that Bakaleya6 was introduced as an official unit under the name SixTONES; given to them by Johnny himself in the hopes that they one day become even bigger than the Rolling Stones. The group debuted in 2020 alongside Snow Man in a historic moment for Johnny & Associates, and the two groups have had a playful rivalry ever since.

As an actor Morimoto has continued to wow audiences in both television series and feature films.

He’s also one hell of a model.

And have you seen him dance?
