Since the announcement on 23 November, the internet has been buzzing with chatter about the Thai remake of the hit Japanese BL series Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!!

The series, based on the novel of the same name by Yuu Toyota, tells the story of Adachi, who, at the age of 29 has never had sex. The morning after his 30th birthday he discovers he has become a “wizard” and developed the ability to hear the thoughts of other people when he touches them. One day, he discovers that his very popular and incredibly handsome co-worker, Yuichi Kurosawa, has been in love with him for a very long time. While dealing with the awkwardness of being able to hear Kurosawa’s sometimes overly-sensual thoughts towards him, Adachi starts to fall for Kurosawa.

Published by Square Enix, an official English adaptation was released in 2020 as the company’s first BL in the states.

A live-action version of the series first premiered in Japan in 2020 with Eiji Akaso as Adachi and Keita Machida as Kurosawa. The series was incredibly popular, spawning two specials and a feature film.

The Thai adaptation, directed by Nattapong Mongkolsawat, will be the comeback series of Tay Tawan and New Thitipoom, who are two of the most popular actors under GMMTV. The two played power couple Pete and Kao in three separate series Kiss, Kiss Me Again, and Dark Blue Kiss. They also appeared as the couple in the 2019 anthology series Our Skyy. Tawan will be playing Karan (Kurosawa) while Thitipoom will play Achi (Adachi).
