Gawin Caskey was one of the first voices that introduced me to the sound of T-pop. I first discovered him through the GMMTV drama Dark Blue Kiss, and it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with his rich, emotive voice. As both an actor and singer under one of Thailand’s most influential entertainment conglomerates,Caskey has steadily built an impressive career, starring in acclaimed series such as Not Me, Enchanté, My Golden Blood, and the recently concluded Only Friends: Dream On. 

Most of these dramas have featured at least one of Gawin’s songs on their soundtracks, but one of my personal favorites remains ｢Sweet but Naughty｣, the infectious theme he performed for the 2022 drama The Warp Effect. Playful, flirtatious, and irresistibly catchy, the track perfectly captured the series’ energetic spirit while showcasing Gawin’s effortless charisma as a vocalist.

Now, he’s released his first official single as a solo artist signed to RISER MUSIC— a subsidiary of GMMTV—   ｢จำใจ｣ (English: Gone Away). 

A smooth, almost folk-like track, it showcases the beautiful tonality of Caskey’s velvety voice. He’s one of my top three favorite Thai singers (along with NANON and Jeff Satur). It’s a great song.

The song was produced by Wisp Team—a collective comprising PURE KANIN, Jeaniich, and Piyabut Sirisamphan. PURE KANIN and Jeaniich also co-wrote and composed the track, while Piyabut Sirisamphan handled the primary arrangement alongside co-arranger Bas Sitthichai. PURE KANIN additionally performed the guitar parts, with vocal direction overseen by the Wisp Team. The vocals were recorded at Axis Studio, engineered by Thinnaphop Pattanajak, with digital editing by Jeaniich and Piyabut Sirisamphan. The final mix and master were completed by Andnew, assisted by Stella, at Salpot Studios, bringing the production together with a polished, contemporary sound.
