The J-pop landscape has long been defined by polish and perseverance. It’s a space built on precision, legacy, and a well-oiled system that rarely misses a beat.

Then there’s 青春CYBER, crescendoing onto the scene like a glitchy, theatrical, anime-infused disruption, impossible to ignore. After debuting  under the name Lunaliaat Shibuya Club Asia on 15 April 2021, the group took a step back before re-emerging in 2024 with a sharper, more defined identity, one that leans fully into their “2.8D” concept and blurs the line between animated fantasy and real-world performance.

Consisting of six group members, Yonemura Shunya (米村俊哉), Naruse Rikiya (成瀬力弥), Yago Atsumi (矢後敦海), Udagawa Hirokazu (宇田川大和), Ichimiya Haru (一宮遥), Sakaguchi Yuya (坂口侑也) they are bright, colorful, and obviously know how to have fun!

Released on 21 Aprl 2026, their debut album We are アオサイ(English: We are Aosai)  is irresistibly catchy and unapologetically fun.

There’s a kinetic, almost restless energy running through the record. Bright synths collide with dramatic vocal runs, creating a carefully constructed symphony of chaos. From the explosive lead track ｢フルボッコ!!｣ (English: Completely Beaten Up!!) to the self-introductory anthem ｢WE ARE アオサイ Ver. 2.0｣, what sells the album is the group’s unwavering commitment to the joy of music. 

Does it feel as polished as some of its contemporaries? No. But that’s the magic of it. I am excited to hear more.
