Having followed Travis Japan very closely while living in the U.S., I was excited to experience my first physical release of theirs as a resident in Japan: their second CD single 「Kagenimo-Hinatanimo」.
Loosely translating to “in the shadow or the sun,” it’s technically their eighth single overall and serves as an insert song for the 2026 TV Asahi drama ぜんぶ、あなたのためだから (English: All For You), which stars group member Ryuya Shimekake (Shime), as well as Ryusei Fujii from the group WEST.
The song reflects the drama’s intense, dramatic tone, focusing on loyalty and hidden feelings. It’s one of the group’s most successful songs to date, and to see it plastered all over Tower Records in Shibuya was honestly cool AF.
Outside, the seven “unique tigers” filled the marquee on the right side of the entrance, larger than life and ready to roar. Stopping to join others taking photos, I walked inside to be greeted by the funky beat of 「Would You Like One?」 — the group’s previous single, recently re-recorded to feature group member Noel on their third album released late last year, ‘s travelers.
Inside, a table promoting the single stood to the left of the entrance, allowing fans a small space to pick up the discs and take more photos before heading up to the fourth floor — the idol floor.

On any given day, the floor is dominated by STARTO groups, who claim almost half of all featured releases, but today there was no denying it was all about TraJa. A large display greeted fans with more discs and a giant framed poster. To the left, a special space allowed TraJa-TAN to get up close and personal with their favorite tiger (or all of them) for one-of-a-kind photo ops.
Stopping to watch fans of all ages rush to their oshi, making heart gestures on their cheeks or blowing kisses, I smiled, patiently waiting my turn so I could take my own photos between my oshis because, after all, even though I take my reviews seriously, I’m still a fan.
After stopping to talk to a few fans about the song and the group in general, I made my way back down to the first floor to pay and collect the external goodies that came with the discs — a special A4-sized clear file, perfect for framing. Though it was the same folder for all three versions, I was still over the moon to be there, in person, celebrating the release.
Like most physically released Japanese singles, 「Kagenimo-Hinatanimo」 dropped with three unique versions.
