Oshi no Ko is by far one of the most popular anime series in recently memory. The story, the art, the music – it’s incredible.

I discovered the series after learning that STARTO recording artist Kento Nakajima (along with Tatsuya Kitani as GEMN) would be performing the opening theme to season 2.

I fell in love.

Oshi no Ko is the story about  two children born as twins to their favorite idol Ai Hoshino – with all the memories of their past lives in tact. However, Ai is murdered when they’re still very young and as they grow up, Aqua and Ruby enter the entertainment industry, facing its dark realities, from manipulation to obsessive fans. While Ruby pursues her dream of becoming an idol like their mother, Aqua is consumed by a quest for revenge. Determined to uncover the truth behind Ai’s murder and their father’s identity, he delves deeper into a web of secrets, deception, and the hidden underbelly of fame.

As a collector, I adore physical media and so when I discovered that Sentai Filmworks was releasing a special Steelbook edition of Season One – I knew I had to purchase it. I previously purchased Princess TuTu, so I knew I was going to get, so I knew the kind of product I was going to get. I love the care that goes into these releases through the company.

Every detail is impeccable and with Oshi no Ko, there was the added bonus of its own unique protective slipcase. The set is pricy (even with a sale I paid close to $86) but it is worth it.

Rating: 14+ the series runtime is about 300 minutes. All eleven episodes of season 1 are included over two discs in 1080 HD with an Aspect Ratio: 16:9 with a third disc featuring approximately 100 minutes of bonus, behind-the-scenes content. Special Features include clean opening / closing animation, a making of and Japanese promotional videos.
