Tokyo Girls Collection (or TGC) is so much more than a fashion show. For some, it’s an entire lifestyle. A semi-annual event, it’s one of the largest fashion festivals in history, known for spectacular performances beyond the beauty of the runway – and it just keeps getting bigger!
Boasting incredible talent like Snow Man‘s Raul (a staple at the festival since 2019) this year’s 2024 SPRING/SUMMER showcase also featured a performance from fellow Junior group Bishonen (美 少年) and Shunsuke Michieda of Naniwa Danshi (なにわ男子), who walked the runway with his Mars co-star Rihito Itagaki.
But one star sparkled just a hue brighter than the rest – Hikaru Hakui (伯井太陽)who was joined at the event by Nao Oriyama (織山尚大)of idol group Shonen Ninja (少年忍者) as surprise guests.
As one of the Kansai Juniors under STARTO ENTERTAINMENT, Hakui is no stranger to the stage; having won numerous dance competitions, appeared in national fashion campaigns, and since signing with Japan’s biggest idol maker in January of 2023 is proving themselves to be anything but the typical entertainment trainee. They are even the first individual Junior in the company’s history to open an official Instagram.
A lover of dance, fashion, and makeup, Hakui wants to be the kind of idol who inspires confidence – and does so by being their authentic self with their own personal motto “Always ready to be GALMINDed!“ (e.g. “Always ready to be me!”).
And they are!
As Japan’s biggest and most successful idol company, STARTO ENTERTAINMENT is sending a very clear message about authenticity and acceptance. They truly are stepping into the new year as a brand new company. It’s going to be amazing to watch it and talent like Hikaru Hakui continue to grow.
