As the first global unit from STARTO ENTERTAINMENT, Travis Japan has forged a path unlike any of their predecessors. After spending nearly a year in Los Angeles, the group debuted in 2022 with their feel-good anthem “JUST DANCE!” the seven-man group enjoyed three digitally released top ten singles and a digital EP before the physical release of their debut album in December 2023 and after topping both the Oricon and Billboard charts in Japan the group has released a version of the album entirely in English.

One of the things I respect the most about Travis Japan is how hard these guys have worked at their craft. The blood, sweat, and tears (and there were plenty) didn’t stop just because they debuted. Their art is their lives – and so they’ve continuously been working on improving it. This means countless hours of dance practice, voice lessons, and English language courses. They truly want Travis Japan to be a global entity – and it shows.

While I’ve always been able to sing along to “JUST DANCE!”, “Candy Kiss”, and “Moving Pieces” the English-language album have allowed me a better understanding of some of my favorites on the original release, including: “Charging”, “Still on a Journey”, and “99 PERCENT” – which as someone who uses music as a method of learning a new language, is fantastic! They’ve been fantastic teachers.

One of my biggest surprises on the album is “So Sunday” – hearing the English version has given me a new appreciation for the Japanese version. It’s such a sweet track. As a bonus, there is a new remix of the track “LEVEL UP” from Sam Feldt – which gives the track an even stronger 80s club vibe. You can stream/purchase Road to A: Global Edition here. You can also purchase a copy of the album from all the usual digital subjects as well as Qobuz (which offers a 24-Bit/44.1 kHz download).
