When Amazon announced they would be releasing a film adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s LGBTQ+ romance novel, Red, White & Royal Blue, my first thought was “Aww, another cheesy gay rom-com.”
I figured it would be cute, but forgettable, just like the hundreds I’ve seen before. But this film was so much more than that.
The oil stars Taylor Zakhar Perez as Alex Claremont-Diaz, the son of the President of the United States, played by Uma Thurman, and Nicholas Galitzine as Henry, a British prince.

The film has all the trappings of a traditional Hallmark movie, with the additional perks of hairy chests and perky (also kinda hairy) butt cheeks.
While yes, there is some incredibly cheesy dialog, the bulk of the film is very sweet and poignant. An interaction between Thurman’s character, Ellen, and her son after he comes out to her is especially sweet (and hysterical).

A definite feel-good movie, Red, White & Royal Blue can currently be streamed on Amazon Prime. It’s worth it. 10/10.

I Think Nicholas Galitzine would be great choice as Cyclops/Scott Summers In MCU
