Eternal Yesterday was one of my favorite series of 2022.
Based on the novel of the same name by Eda Yuuri, Koichi (Komiya Rio) is energetic and popular, while Mitsuru (Inoue Sora) is quiet and shy, but despite their differences, the two high school boys are drawn to one another. Koichi is incredibly protective of his Mit-chan, which proves useful when a truck gets too close to the boys one rainy morning. Koichi is able to push Mitsuru to safety, but he himself is hit and becomes a dead boy. A living dead body, but a dead body nonetheless. It’s a tragic yet romantic story, filled with beautiful moments.

The three-disc box set, distributed by TCEntertainment, is simple and sleek, featuring an adorable image of the couple sharing their first kiss on the cover. The first two discs include all eight episodes of the series, while disc 3 is filled with special features, including a “Making of” documentary, visual commentary for episode 1, and clean opening/ending credits. It also includes a booklet filled with behind-the-scenes images.
With a price tag o $104 (before shipping) from CD Japan, it isn’t the cheapest set in the world, but for me, it’s absolutely worth the price.
I loved this series.
