Snow Man is one of the most formidable idol groups in J-pop. These nine incredibly gifted men have been stitching together a history-making career that started with their dual-debut announcement in 2019 alongside their play-rivals SixTONES. It was the first time such an event had occurred since the formation of J&A in the 1960s.

The group’s first single, “D.D.” became the best-selling debut release in Asian history, with more than 1.8 million physical copies sold.

In 2021, the group’s debut album, “Snow Mania S1” sold more than 841,000 physical in its first week of release, becoming the best-selling first week for a male idol group in Japanese history and the second-best week for a debut album in the country’s history overall.

And their numbers have only continued to grow. Since their debut, Snow Man has sold more than 11 million units.

Every release has out-sold the one before with their 8th single, “タペストリー | W” a double A-side disc selling more than 813,000 physical copies on the first day of release. Updated numbers as of 19 March show the single selling 921,011.

Impressive at any rate, these numbers become even more critical when you factor in the fact that Snow Man has never done digital distribution.

Ever.

Every unit sold is physical.

タペストリー (Eng: Tapestry) is the theme for the supernatural romantic period drama わたしの幸せな結婚 (Eng: My Happy Marriage), which is a spin on the story of Cinderella.

Starring Snow Man’s Meguro Ren as Kudo Kiyoka, a military captain rumored to be so cruel that he has driven away every one of his potential wives so far (sadly, it was not because he was waiting for me). The film opened on 17 March 2023, and Meguro is (per usual) getting high praise from fans and critics alike for his performance.

“W” is the theme of the high-octane NTV drama 大病院占拠 (Eng: Hospital Under Siege) and stars senior Johnny’s talent Sho Sakurai of ARASHI.

Currently the #1 single in Japan, the disc also features “No Surrender,” the theme song for the second season of Let Snow Man do it,” a reality series featuring the group.

“タペストリー | W” can be purchased wherever Japanese CDs are sold.

With the announcement of their 3rd studio album “i Do Me” and their upcoming Dome tour, there will surely be more Snow Man soon, so…

Stay Tuned!
