It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that the right man makes it easier to swallow, Monday mornings that is. So, I have taken it upon myself, my gentle readers, to make your Mondays a bit more man-nificent by sharing with you some of the most beautiful men from around the world.
It warmed this withered old heart to see how many of you enjoyed my inaugural man crush Chaka, so today I wanted to offer you another recent discovery: Arata Sato.
Like Chaka, Arata is signed to Johnny & Associates, being a member of the Johnnys’ Jr group IMPACTors. I discovered him while watching Viki’s newest BL drama from Japan Takara-kun and Amagi-kun and it is giving me LIFE!
While I love last year’s My Love Mix-Up (starring Ren Meguro and Shunsuke Michieda who are both also under Johnny & Associates) there is something incredibly realistic about Takara-kun and Amagi-kun. And while I was initially drawn to the character because of Arata’s dark and serious eyes (and his angelically handsome face), it was his captivating performance as Takara that really made an impression.
Takara is not just your typical “closeted” popular boy. There’s a depth to him, a sensitivity that’s missing from a lot of the “active” roles in the BL World. Maybe I’m so drawn to him because I dated a guy like him when I was in high school, and college, and – well, it’s a story I think a lot of LGBTQ+ people can relate to.
Side note: I need to find out how Johnnys not only seems to find the most talented men in Japan but also the most beautiful.
Takara-kun and Amagi-kun is the first starring role for the 21-year-old, though he has done a few guest spots and supporting roles in addition to the content he makes with IMPACTors.
Seriously the man can move!
