Mek Jirakit is one of my favorite Thai actors. I first discovered him as a supporting character in the 2019 romantic drama Dark Blue Kiss from GMMTV, and I’ve followed his career closely ever since through projects like The Player, Star and Sky: Sky in Your Heart, and My Stand-In.

I had the opportunity to interview Mek shortly after his departure from GMMTV, and it remains one of the most charming and engaging conversations I’ve ever had—thoughtful, warm, and incredibly interesting.

When I began developing the soundtrack for My Super Fiancé, I knew I wanted it to feel truly international. The project was heavily inspired by the Thai BL dramas I’ve loved over the years from studios like GMMTV, Studio Wabi Sabi and Dee Hup House, so incorporating the Thai language felt essential to the world I was building.

I reached out—and to my absolute delight, Mek said yes. He recorded the official Thai theme song, 「รักว้าวุ่น」 (English title: 「Love Chaos」), adapted from 「Crazy Love」, a song I originally wrote with Phil Evans of the country group Roads Below.

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, as there is just this easy confidence in Mek – especially when he talks about stepping into new creative territory. He’s calm, cool, and grounded, but also quietly excited. “This isn’t my first international collaboration,” he states. “But it is my first time singing an OST for an international BL project.”

“I really love the artwork,” he adds with a smile. “It’s cute and full of charm.”

When the conversation turns to BL dramas and their global appeal, Jirakit speaks with pride and clarity. When asked what makes Thai BL, in particular, resonate so strongly with international audiences, he doesn’t hesitate. “I think it’s because Thailand was one of the first countries to really develop the BL industry,” he replied. “We’ve always been quite open about it. That openness gave creators the freedom to explore the genre without much resistance from society. I’m proud of that, actually.”

Back to the world of My Super Fiancé, talk naturally shifts to superheroes—and what kind of power he’d want if given the choice. His answer is thoughtful, and very on-brand. “I’d love to have the power of strong self-control,” he laughs. “I mean… the kind that lets you stay focused no matter what. And another ability I’d choose is absorbing information through touch. I love reading and I wish I could finish at least 50 books a year. Right now I can only do about twenty, which already feels like a lot.”

And then, just as effortlessly, he subverts expectations one last time. With another smile, he adds, “Honestly… I’d love to play a super-villain more than a superhero!”

Charming and self-aware, with just a glint of mischief in his eyes, Mek Jirakit is exactly the kind of energy you want in a super-powered universe, and I couldn’t be happier to welcome him into mine!

Even more exciting, Mek, along with band S4INT AFTER SIX will be in Tokyo during my stay!

Needless to say, 2026 is shaping up to be another year of adventure! So…

Stay Tuned!
