If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if a small-town dreamer accidentally got tangled up with some of Korea’s hottest supernatural beings — The Story of Bi Hyeong: Enchanted Master of the Goblin (비형전: 도깨비의 주인) has you covered.

The story follows Geum Bok (Lee Cha Min), a wide-eyed wanna-be actor who moves to Seoul chasing stardom, only to be scammed by a realtor, tormented by bratty children, and kissed (yes, kissed) by Bi Hyeong (Hwang Jae Wook) — a charming man who turns out to be goblin.

But not just any goblin. Bi Hyeong is Dokkaebi, the Goblin Kin. While most mortal energy makes him sick, there’s something incredibly special about Geum Bok. He’s the only human, Bi Hyeong can safely absorb.

So, naturally – as good Goblin Kings do– Bi Hyeong drags Geum Bok to his hom. But this isn’tsome dusty labyrinth in the underground, it’s a posh apartment in the middle of Seoul. Where, the human can be used  like an emergency snack pack.

But,  Bi Hyeong doesn’t live alone. His faithful bodyguard Gil Dal (Kang Chan Woo) lives with him – and with a body that easily overheats, walks around the apartment shirtless. No complaints here.

So to recap, you have a Goblin King, a warrior, and a human. Basically it’s a supernatural Three’s Company – with a bit of darkness lurking just below the surface.

Cue the loyal (and low-key brooding) bodyguard Gil Dal, and suddenly you’ve got one mortal, one goblin, and one swordsman under the same roof.

With elements of horror, fantasy, and a swoony queer romance, The Story of Bi Hyeong: Enchanted Master of the Goblin is a deliciously chaotic tale of desire, destiny, and the trouble that comes with dating  mythical creatures.Basically it’s right up my alley. Also, the soundtrack, composed by Doolee Park is exquisite.

There will be more of the Story of Bi Hyeong soon so…
