Jem and the Holograms (with the help of Hasbro Pulse) have just unveiled a brand-new release of one of the animated series spookiest tracks, 「Fun to be Scared」!

Originally debuting on 30 October 1987 in the Halloween-themed episode Trick or Techrat, the song—written by Kinder, Ford, and Harman—was the 118th to appear in the series and remains a perfect anthem for the season of the witch. With its playful mix of eerie atmospherics, spooky visuals, and signature Hologram energy, it stands out as both one of Jem’s most fun and most underrated tracks.

Now, for the first time ever, in celebration of the animated series 40th anniversary, 「Fun to be Scared」 has been reimagined and officially released online, accompanied by a brand-new instrumental version.

And to be honest, it’s one of my favorites.

Musically, the reimagining of 「Fun to be Scared」 takes everything that made the original great and builds upon it—adding just enough polish to make the track feel even stronger than before. The bridge is nothing short of brilliant, and once again, Britta Phillips proves why her voice defined a generation. She sounds as bright and dazzling as ever—if not even more so than in the ’80s.

This release preserves all the campy, spooky charm of the original while letting fans experience it in newly hi-res 24-Bit/48 kHz Stereo sound.

There will be more Jem and the Holograms soon so…

Stay Tuned!
