I’ve said it before, and I’ll gladly say it again: SixTONES isn’t just my favorite J-pop group—they’re one of my favorite groups of all time. Their look. Their sound. Their energy. Their everything. They’re simply incredible.
「Stargaze」
Written and produced by Yojiro Noda (RADWIMPS), this track captures the essence of youth, ambition, and unshakable friendship. It plays like a semi-biographical tribute to SixTONES themselves, tracing their journey from struggling juniors to chart-topping icons. While it may not have the same hard rock punch or cinematic scale as some of their past songs, it shines as one of their very best.
I have to give a special shout out to the behind the scenes lyric video, because… it’s SixTONES and well, this is my blog and I don’t need another reason to post them. I just want to.
「BOYZ -SKA PUNK Rearrange-」
This is one of the things I love most about SixTONES—they’re fearless when it comes to reinventing their own music. The ska-punk rearrangement of “BOYZ” is pure fun, bursting with energy and swagger. It’s bold, playful, and perfectly aligned with the hard-hitting sound of their fifth album, 「GOLD」.
「Tear Train」
Few groups can shift gears the way SixTONES can. From heavy rock anthems to heartfelt ballads, they glide between genres effortlessly—and nail it every time. “Tear Train” may carry a steady beat, but at its heart it’s an emotional showcase of their stunning vocals, highlighting just how versatile and powerful they really are.
The medleys from their YOUNG OLD tour at Tokyo Dome—including 「BORDERLESS」, 「Cat Call」, 「MIDAS」, 「SPICY」, 「THE BALLERS」, 「GONG」—are another reminder of why their concerts are must-watch events. Something, I can say from personal experience, and have heightened my excitement for the upcoming Blu-ray release.
he physical disc also includes the full-length music videos of each member’s solo track from their previous single, 「BOYZ」.
With more and more of their music coming to streaming, SixTONES are a group I truly believe are going to take Asian pop to the next level. They’re just that good and I cannot wait to see where they go!
There will be more SixTONES soon so…
Stay Tuned!
