Trillion Game was hands down one of my favorite dramas of 2023. Yes, I’ll admit it—I’m biased when it comes to Ren Meguro (目黒蓮). But honestly, have you seen that smile? If you have, then you already know why he’s my favorite Snow Man. If you haven’t, well…

🎲 you’re welcome. 🎲

So when news broke about a feature film follow-up, I was ecstatic. On my recent trip to Japan, I even stumbled across some theatrical one-sheets promoting the movie—now tucked safely into my Snow Man collection.

Released on February 14, 2025, the film finds Tennoji Haru (Meguro) and Taira Manabu (Hayato Sano, 佐野勇斗) diving into the high-stakes world of gambling. This time, the duo plots pseudo-revenge against Haru’s old nemesis, Wolf Lee (Ishibashi Ryo, 石橋凌), while working toward the creation of a glittering new casino resort. Yes, it’s a plot we’ve seen before in other heist-style dramas, but the execution kept me hooked—darker, moodier, and every bit as fun.

 🎲 Killer Poster 🎲

Riko Fukumoto (福本莉子) returned as Rinri Takahashi, and Mio Imada reprised her role as Kirika. Kirika didn’t get nearly as much screen time this time around—my one real gripe—but the subtle evolution of her “situationship” with Haru made every scene count.

Acting-wise, the camaraderie between Meguro, Sano, and Fukumoto was spot on. Their chemistry gives the film a warmth that balances all the tension. I already adored seeing Meguro and Fukumoto together thanks to My Love Mix-Up,my first (and still favorite) J-drama. Sano, on the other hand, was a newer discovery for me—I only know him through Trillion Game. With his sensational comedic timing and knack for tugging heartstrings, I definitely need to dive deeper into his work (and maybe finally check out his group, M!LK).

Overall, the film feels like a bold next step for the franchise—upping the tension, sharpening the stakes, and reminding us why Haru and Manabu’s world is so intoxicating to watch. As they put it, they’re “the most greedy motherf*ckers in the universe”—and I love them for it.

The final tag teased: “See you next game….” Here’s hoping that means another film—or maybe even a full second season! There will be more soon so…
