It’s here! Hasbro Pulse has officially released another glittery reimagining from the truly outrageous Jem and the Holograms soundtrack, and it’s one of my ultimate favorites…
「Glitter & Gold」
First released on 15 March 1987, as the 71st song in the animated series, “Glitter & Gold” stands out as one of the finest tracks among the nearly 200 written for the show. With its irresistible mix of rock riot and sparkling pop shine, the track radiates both attitude and glamour, embodying everything that made Jem and the Holograms such a cultural icon of the 1980s.
It was an anthem that not only inspired a theme song and an unforgettable episode, but also a glitter-drenched fashion line—proving once again that Jem could transform music into pure magic.
Unlike many other ‘80s cartoons (Transformers, G.I. Joe), Jem flipped the formula: the music and storytelling took center stage, while the toys followed the beat.
Now, almost four decades later, Britta has stepped back into the studio and somehow managed to record something even better than the original.
As with the previously released reimaginings, Britta’s voice is pitch-perfect—hearing her again feels less like a cover and more like stepping straight back into 1987, glitter and all. It’s a reminder that while the fashions, toys, and even the animation may be rooted in the past, the music—and the voice that gave it life—remains timeless.
As previously mentioned, the reimagined song will be included on the stand to the new Glitter ‘n Gold Jem doll through The Loyal Subjects, which will be released early next year. You can pre-order here.
Here’s hoping even more Jem is on the horizon, so…
Stay tuned!
