I am thrilled to announce the special introductory episode of my newest novel My Super Fiancé is now live on both Substack and Readawrite.

Titled Mr. Simple, this five-chapter standalone story functions like a pilot—a way to meet the characters, and get a taste of the wild, romantic, high-stakes ride that’s coming.

This story is incredibly personal to me.

I first started developing the concept many years ago, right after reading Hero by Perry Moore. That book hit shelves just as I had moved to Los Angeles and was celebrating the release of my own debut novel, The Phoenix Chronicles: Awakenings. After reading it I reached out to Perry online, and after a few questions—we became friends.

When he passed away, I shelved the project. And then life—as it often does—took a sharp turn, steering me into the vibrant world of the Los Angeles pop music scene.

For the better part of a decade, writing took a backseat.

Then came the pandemic. And after clearing out my Netflix queue, I found myself drifting back into the sea of stories. In 2023, I signed with Digital Fabulist, and released My Dead Boyfriend, a queer supernatural romance that was born as I was becoming a fan of the talent of STARTO ENTERTAINMENT, and specifically Travis Japan. Their music didn’t just play in the background—it charged the writing process, inspiring me as I crafted the story. Their sound was so integral to the process,  I end up dedicating the book to them.

That tradition continues with My Super Fiancé. The first spark for the story came from Travis Japan’s electric anthem 「BO$$Y」 from their second album 「VIIsual」—which became the heartbeat of this new world I was building.

But this time, they weren’t alone. The Unique Tigers were joined by the voices of SixTONES, Snow Man, Aぇ! group (Ae! group), and なにわ男子 (Naniwa Danshi)—each of them inspiring the pacing of scenes, the rhythm of battles, and the emotional pull of character arcs.

Music played such a vital role in shaping this story that I couldn’t resist creating a soundtrack of my own. That journey gave rise to 「We Are Magic」—my first song written entirely in Spanish, and the very first time I passed the mic to another artist. That artist? A brand-new voice from Argentina with a name as unforgettable as his sound: Shintaro Luna.

I’m beyond excited, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t also a little nervous. This story means so much to me—and I hope you enjoy it.
