Since the finale of last year’s Wandee Goodday, I’ve been eagerly waiting for Great and In to share the screen again. As someone who’s followed their careers long before they joined GMMTV, I’ve come to admire not only their immense talent but the quiet power they bring to every role. Whether navigating heartbreak, tenderness, or comedy, both actors have a way of commanding attention with the subtlest gestures—an artful glance, or a perfectly timed silence where they’re standing there glistening and glittering in shirtless glory. They’re both phenomenal, and together? Absolutely magnetic.

Their reunion in จาฤกรติชา (Memoir of Rati) is nothing short of cinematic poetry. With its sweeping cinematography, meticulous costume design, and hauntingly beautiful score, the premiere episode unfolds like a jewel box of emotion and elegance—reminiscent of the lush romanticism in Andy Tennant’s Anna and the King (1999). From the very first frame, it’s clear this is more than just another historical drama—it’s an experience. One that honors history while daring to romanticize it in all the right ways.

The production value is exquisite. Golden hour light bathes ancient architecture. Silks shimmer with every graceful turn. Every detail—from the reverent pacing to the delicate choreography of court life—feels like a painting brought to life. The musical score deserves special praise, weaving traditional instrumentation with emotional swells that elevate each moment. It doesn’t merely accompany the story—it becomes part of its soul.

And yet, it’s Great and In who breathe life into this memory. Their performances are restrained yet magnetic, rich with emotion and royal tension. Each glance is weighted with unspoken history, each touch charged with unfulfilled longing. The chemistry is undeniable—intimate, regal, and profoundly human.

Episode one sets the tone for what promises to be a gorgeously told love story—stitched delicately between duty and desire, heritage and heart. If Anna and the King gave us the aching poetry of forbidden love across cultures, Memoir of Rati takes that same thread and embroiders it into something unique for a Thai BL drama. Something I hope we will see more of in the future from GMMTV.

There will be more BL reviews soon so…
