Like any baby of the ’80s, I lived for Saturday morning cartoons—and one of the few “boy shows” I genuinely loved was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I had the bedsheets, the books, and of course, the toys. While my original figures have been lost to time (and more than a few moves from my small-town Montana roots), Mondo’s premium line of fully articulated soft-vinyl figures—inspired by the look of the classic TMNT and Japanese sofubi—has me clearing shelf space for the heroes in a half-shell all over again.

At least for my two favorites.

Let’s start with Leonardo. As the fearless leader, he’s always been the anchor of the team—and this figure gets him. His twin katanas are sleek and deadly, with the option to either holster or wield them depending on your display style. Standing at 8 inches tall, Leo exudes a quiet strength. The paintwork is stunning, giving him a serious, almost battle-worn edge that really plays into his role as the disciplined protector.

And then there’s Donatello. As a kid, he was my absolute favorite. He was smart, he was gentle – but he was still a bad-ass. The sculpt on this figure absolutely nails his techy, brainy vibe while still making him look fierce. His bo staff, like Leo’s swords, can be holstered or posed in action, giving you plenty of flexibility. What I love most is how the detailing leans into Donnie’s intellect—there’s a subtle sharpness in the eyes and posture that says, “You do you bro, I’ve already figured out how to beat ya.”

The packaging art and design are phenomenal, with nods to both comic book flair and that vintage turtle energy. Even the box feels like a collectible. Mondo clearly knows their audience, This series hits every nostalgic and aesthetic note perfectly.

With a recommended MSRP of $90 each, they’re not exactly impulse buys—but for die-hard fans and collectors, the quality more than justifies the price. Whether you’re Team Donnie, Team Leo, or (like me) proudly both, these figures are an absolute must-have. Designed and sculpted by Alex Brewer and Hector Arce, they’re bold, brilliant, and beautifully badass—paired with striking box art and packaging design by Aaron Conley and Jordan Christianson that make them just as display-worthy in the box as out of it.

This isn’t the first time Mondo has knocked it out of the park with the cartoons we grew up on. Their work on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been stellar, and their Masters of the Universe line – is pure space magic. When it comes to collector-grade nostalgia, Mondo just gets it.

There will be more reviews soon so…
