Kento Nakajima is easily one of the coolest idols in J-POP. Incredibly gifted, he’s the kind of artist who doesn’t just play a part—he becomes it. Whether singing, dancing, or acting, Nakajima transforms himself completely, slipping into whatever the scene or sound demands with effortless conviction.

In 「jealous」—one of the pre-release singles from his chart-topping debut album N / bias—Nakajima is bright and flamboyant, singing and dancing atop a rooftop in head-to-toe denim, brimming with color and charisma.

However, with his latest single – his first official as a solo artist – 「MONTAGE」, he takes a sharp turn into more enigmatic territory.

Featured as the opening theme for the anime The Dinner Table Detective (currently airing on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block), 「MONTAGE」 fuses dance, techno, and classic pop with eerie synth textures and an irresistibly catchy melody. The result? A moody, magnetic track that pulls you in and refuses to let go lingering on your imagination long after the song fades to an end —showcasing not just Nakajima’s vocal prowess, but a deeper, more nuanced side of his artistry.

The music video is just as inventive as the song itself—unfolding like a backdoor pilot for a gripping procedural. Nakajima stars as a supernatural detective with the uncanny ability to step directly into the mind of a criminal, seeing through their eyes as he stitches together the clues to the case. It’s fascinating.

Now available for worldwide streaming and download as of 11 April, the physical edition of 「MONTAGE」 drops 21 May. Fans can find it wherever Japanese music is sold, including CD JAPAN. The release comes in three distinct formats (with DVD and Blu-ray options) —each featuring bonus tracks and exclusive behind-the-scenes video content.

There will be more Kento Nakajima soon so…
