Every so often, world’s collide.
I grew up on Gloria Estefan. Everlasting Love, Rhythm Is Gonna Get You, and Get on Your Feet were staples I my dad’s stereo system. I played the tapes so much, that I thought myself how to replace the pads in the cassingles – much to the dismay of my mother when I performed a “replacement surgery” on her Bat Out of Hell album.
Flash Forward a few years, and Travis Japan has become one of the dominant sounds on my playlist. JUST DANCE! Candy Kiss, and T.G.I. Friday Night are now the songs that get me up and moving.
But, in the digital age, worlds – as they often do – collide.
This weekend, Chaka posted on his official tiktok account a dance he, Umi and Genta did to the 1985 Miami Sound Machine, hit Conga.
Joined by Umi and Geta the three J-POP stars got their groove on to the Grammy Award winner and me – being the nerd that I am tagged both parties – and Ms. Estefan – LOVED IT!
Hey, it’s not every day my worlds come together in perfect harmony.
