I am a huge can of the BL series from GMMTV. Dramas like Vise Versa, My School President, and Fish Upon the Sky are some of my absolute most favorite series in the genre. While the company holds the crown of the light-hearted comedy, they’ve started to branch out into edgier, steamier dramas like Moonlight Chicken, Only Friends, and My Golden Blood.
Recently, the company released The Heart Killers – a rough and tumble series set in the world of Thailand’s underground crime syndicate. Not the most original storyline to be sure, but since it featured two of the industry’s most popular ships JoongDunk (Joong Archen / Dunk Natachai) and FirstKhao (First Kanaphan / Khaotung Thanawat) the was predestined to be successful. Besides, I’d watch almost anything with Kanaphan and Thanawat.

Also the series had a KILLER soundtrack. Totally 80s inspired, the music is probably the best part of the entire thing.
The series theme Destroy Love by Khaotung is one of the best songs to ever come out of come out of GMMTV. While I’ve always thought Thanawat was talented, this sone is a whole new level of awesome.
Hurt Me Please from Archen, makes use of the actors sultry voice – and incredibly dreamy personality.
I love First. He’s one of my favorite GMMTV actors. There’s an innocence to him. Even though his character in The Heart Killers was a tatted up criminal, his inherent sweetness was always there. My Fuel also accentuates that.
Dunk was the one I was surprised by the most. I’ve really liked his contribution to the soundtrack Fast Love. It fit his character and, like all the other songs on this soundtrack is just damn good.
The final release from the series Never back down is arguably the weakest song of the setlist, but it’s still catchy and fun.
Starting strong, the series did start to lag toward the end – especially in the last two episodes. Scenes could have been cut from episode 10 to wrap up the villain’s storyline by the end of the episode and made a fine finale. Instead it continued for two more episodes that to be honest, just of dragged the story down.
I think at the heart of the issue (pun intended) with this series is that we’re supposed to suspend the belief that Fadel (Archen) and Bison (Thanawat) are not killers. Contract killers being used my a criminal mastermind sure, but killers none-the-less. They’re sexy people, but they’re not good people. Yes, there is a difference.
Still it is an enjoyable series, if again for nothing else the music.
