The release of Travis Japan’s sixth single comes with many firsts. For starters, it’s the first (and hopefully only) to feature just six of the group’s seven members, as Noel is currently on hiatus for a mental recharge. It also marks their first double A-side single. Most exciting of all, it’s the first to be released both digitally and as a physical version!

The first release, 「Say I do」 is a romance-coated confection of cuteness. In the music video, the members play matchmakers, helping a slightly nerdy young man and a gorgeous waitress spark a connection through super-sweet, silly antics. From Umi’s deadpan tambourine tapping to Genta’s exasperated eye-roll at Chaka’s attempt to sketch a pretty girl, the video is packed with charming, lighthearted moments. Also, thanks to them I suddenly have a craving for a can of Black Coffee (note: if you haven’t tried it, you should. It’s fantastic)!

The song also serves as the theme song for TV Asahi’s Saturday drama Honno Switch (ホンノウスイッチ), starring group member Kaito ‘Chaka’ Miyachika.

Based on the hit KUJIRA comic—which has sold over 780,000 copies—this is a story of a lifelong friendship that takes an unexpected turn toward romance. Sei Akiyama (Chaka) and Kowa Hoshi (Wakana Aoi) have been inseparable since childhood, their bond just as strong now as adults.

But one fateful night changes everything. After Hoshi’s boyfriend breaks up with her, Akiyama, as always, rushes to mend her broken heart—something he’s done countless times before. This time, though, a few too many drinks blur the lines between friendship and something more. The next morning, they wake up in the same bed… and everything is different.

Would anyone really freak out if they woke up in bed half-naked with Chaka?

As their first physical single release, the CD will be available wherever Japanese music and movies are sold, including CD Japan. Fans can choose from three different formats, each featuring additional songs and exclusive behind-the-scenes video content. A special Universal Music Store exclusive edition will also include footage from the global leg of their Road to A tour, making it a must-have for the TRAJA-TAN.

Kicking off the year strong, Travis Japan is currently in the midst of the Japanese leg of their second world tour, promoting their sophomore album, VIIsual. Between photo shoots, recording sessions, and filming for TV series and movies, one thing is certain—this group never slows down!

I can’t wait to see what’s next so…

Stay Tuned!
