I know it’s still early in the series, but I’m going to say it—The Boy Next World is the best thing Me Mind Y has ever done. MAME is an incredible storyteller, and Chaikamon Sermsongwittaya (Boss) and Nuttarat Tangwai (Noeul) have electric chemistry. While I loved their characters in the 2022 hit Love in the Air (also based on a story by MAME), this story feels like an even better fit for them.

Phukan (Noeul) has never been in a relationship and can’t even imagine what love might look like. Highly superstitious and a bit of a worrywart, he’s never given much thought to sharing his world with someone else. That all changes when the striking Cirrus (Boss)—nicknamed “The Ice Prince”—suddenly shows up at his door after a terrible car accident.

Having never spoken to Cirrus before, Phukan is baffled when Cirrus claims to be his boyfriend from a parallel world. Cirrus insists that Phukan is the most important person in his life and vows to protect him at all costs.

Although a bit peculiar, Cirrus’ genuine softness toward Phu is both touching and endearing. He’s less playful compared to Payu (Love in the Air), bringing a refreshing depth to his character. Meanwhile, Phukan, while still somewhat lackadaisical, feels far less annoying and much more believable than Rain (Love in the Air).

The element of mystery adds an intriguing layer to the story. There are subtle hints suggesting that Cirrus might not actually be from a parallel world, possibly influenced by the trauma of the accident—but equally compelling hints suggest he might be telling the truth.

The series currently streams on iQIYI for international viewers, with new episodes released every Sunday.

There will be more BL reviews soon so…
