Following the release of their highly anticipated debut album Road to A in the winter of 2023, Travis Japan embarked on their sold-out Road to Authenticity Tour. This electrifying journey brought the group’s unique sound and energy to over 325,500 fans across Japan. On 21 February 2024, during a monumental performance at Osaka’s iconic Kyocera Dome, they premiered their first single since the album’s debut. Choreographed by the globally acclaimed s**t kingz, ｢T.G.I. Friday Night｣ marked their first release of 2024—and it was an undeniable bop! 

🌈 CELEBRATING PRIDE WITH A PARTY ANTHEM 🎉

Released on 18 March, just weeks before Japanese Pride, the music video showcased a group ready to celebrate inclusivity and joy. Featuring vibrant visuals, the video subtly yet powerfully included a rainbow flag and ribbons in the colors of the trans community. This simple gesture resonated deeply, reflecting not only the group’s message of acceptance but also the ethos of their debut single: “It don’t matter where you’re from or who you are… JUST DANCE!” With ｢T.G.I. Friday Night｣ they added another heartfelt affirmation: “Love you just the way you are.” 

It was a simple, yet beautiful message wrapped in an irresistibly catchy tune, reinforcing their motto, “Just dance together,” meant everyone. Which makes this song one of my absolute favorites. 

💃 FUNKY, POPPY, GROOVY: A FAN-FAVORITE 🎶

“We’re beyond grateful for their work on this amazing song!” Genta “G” Matsuda shared. “Both the song and the choreography are incredibly funky, poppy, and groovy, making it so much fun to perform and listen to!” he added enthusiastically, with his signature smile.

📈 LOOKIN’ FLY WITH CHART-TOPPING SUCCESS🌟

In the Oricon Weekly Digital Single (Single Song) Ranking dated April 1, 2024, the song debuted at number one with 44,319 downloads in its first week. Notably, the Japanese version of the same song secured the second position with 37,126 downloads, marking the first time in 1 year and 8 months that an artist occupied both the first and second spots simultaneously. 

On the Billboard Japan Download Songs chart for the week of March 27, 2024, “T.G.I. Friday Night” also claimed the top position, with 75,135 downloads. 

｢T.G.I. Friday Night｣ was a strong start to a year filled with incredible achievements for Travis Japan.
