With their debut celebrated as a festival of color and sound, Travis Japan was ready to take their artistry in an exciting new direction. I’ve often said that to know Travis Japan is to witness the embodiment of pure, unfiltered ambition—a group driven by an unrelenting desire to succeed. 

Each of the seven members is an exceptionally motivated individual, but the true magic lies in how these unique pieces come together to form something extraordinary. Their sophomore single, ｢Moving Pieces｣, is a testament to that synergy, showcasing their growth, determination, and undeniable charm as a group.

🧑‍🎤Star-Studded Collaborations🧩

｢Moving Pieces｣ was written and produced by the renowned producer / songwriter Poo Bear who has also worked with the likes of Justin Bieber and Billie Eilish. 

Though it was not intended to be their second single (it was actually meant to be their third) The song’s sleek and sensual sound highlighted each member’s voice while showcasing their harmony as one of J-POP’s most  well-oiled machines.

Choreographed by the group’s namesake Travis Payne (Michael Jackson’s This Is It tour and Lady Gaga’s The Monster Ball Tour) the music video is a bit like a psychedelic journey through a sonic wonderland that, in addition to being curious and strange, managed to accentuate the song’s sensuality and the groups undeniable sex appeal. 

“The choreography happened naturally,” group member Kaito ‘Umi’ Nakamura said in an interview with Asian entertainment website Nautiljon. “Moving Pieces was supposed to be our third single, with CANDY KISS being our second, but some things happened behind the scenes, so we had to switch up the order. It worked out, because they are very different styles of song and choreography. I hope you like them both equally as much though”! 

The song and music video received rave reviews from fans and critics alike who praised it’s danceable, chill, and intricately sexy production

Debuting at number 3 on the Oricon charts and secured the number one position on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for the third week of May 2023.

🌀 MOVING PIECES: EP 🧩

Following the release of the single Moving Pieces single, Travis Japan delighted fans with the surprise release of the ｢Moving Pieces｣ EP. In addition to the title song, the EP also featured three  three brand new  tracks. 

｢Charging!｣ –  a vibrant and colorful pop anthem that brought extra energy to Kagome’s “Let’s Live Vividly” TV commercial campaign. 

｢Still on a Journey｣ – a heartfelt love song with a carefree summer vibe, highlighting the group’s knack for weaving autobiographical elements into their music. 

｢Keep On Smiling｣- Closing out the EP, this disco-inspired summer track brimming with feel-good energy, perfectly paired as the commercial theme for Rosette’s Face Wash Pasta campaign.
