TV Asahi is on fire in 2024! The Japanese broadcasting powerhouse has been churning out hit after hit, and the latest addition to its stellar lineup is set to ignite the airwaves. Get ready for 私たちが恋する理由 (Watashitachi ga Koisuru Riyu / English: The Reason We Fall in Love), a sizzling new drama that brings together not one, but two idols from STARTO ENTERTAINMENT!

Tomonari Kurosawa (Fuma Kikuchi, timelesz) is a 33-year-old sales manager who keeps his emotions under wraps. His direct demeanor often leads people to believing he’s cold, but beneath the surface, he’s a kind and caring soul. Aoi Morita is Kurosawa’s shy and introverted subordinate. Her tall stature has left her with an inferiority complex, making her doubt her self-worth and hesitant to open up to love.

As Morita gets to know Kurosawa, she discovers his subtle kindness and thoughtfulness. Despite his tough exterior, she finds herself drawn to his warm heart.

The series also stars Ryuya ‘Shime’ Shimekake (七五三掛龍也) of Travis Japan! Shimekake has taken on the role of Sakamoto, another office worker. A kind and gentle soul who wears his heart on his sleeve. While the oposite sex appreciate his compassionate nature, they rarely see him as a romantic interest, keeping perpetually in “the friend zone” – which is why no one knows about his crush on Ayaka, a talented senior colleague from a different department. When they’re assigned to the same project, he’s thrilled to work alongside his idol and prove himself as the romantic lead he wants to be.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be back on my first television drama in 11 years!” Shimekake exclaims. “As soon as I heard the story, I devoured the original material and was captivated by the three couples’ pure and passionate love stories. I’m determined to give it my all and make this role shine.”

“To get into character,” he continues. “I’ve transformed my look by chopping off my long, light hair and going for a darker, edgier style. My group members have been raving about the new me, saying it suits me perfectly – which made my day!”

“Sakamoto, is a straightforward and genuine guy who often finds himself stuck in his own ways,” he says of the character. “I can really relate to his struggles, and I’m excited to bring him to life. Since I’m playing a younger role, I’ve been working hard on my skincare routine to keep my skin looking youthful and fresh!”

“This drama will make you realize just how exhilarating it is to fall in love,” he concludes. “I promise you’ll be hooked, so mark your calendars and get ready to be swept away by the romance!”

Beginning 12 October, this 30-minute romantic comedy delves into the ups and downs of romance and friendships among six adults in the workplace.

There will be more Travis Japan, timelesz, STARTO ENTERTAINMENT and drama reviews soon so…
