Twilight.

It was the book series that captivated millions of hearts, spawned a multi-billion dollar film franchise, turned Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson from actors into global superstars and inspired a zillion fan fictions (including 50 Shades of Grey).

Now, the series is getting a second life thanks to Netflix.

Stephenie Meyer, the mastermind behind the iconic book series, is teaming up with the streaming giant to bring Midnight Sun – the 2020 retelling of the first book from the perspective of Edward the vampire – to the small screen as an animated series.

Meyer will serve as executive producer alongside her Fickle Fish Films partner, Meghan Hibbett. The talented team behind the project also includes Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen from Temple Hill Entertainment, Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey from Picturestart, and Sinead Daly (known for her work on Tell Me Lies, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Raised by Wolves, and The Get Down) as executive producer and writer.

It feels like an odd – but interesting – choice, and the animated format will bring a unique and captivating visual style to Forks.

So, whether you’re Team Edward or Team Jacob, it’s going to be an interesting ride… maybe?
