KIDNAP (ลับ-จ้าง-รัก) has become one of the most anticipated series of the 4th quarter of 2024.
Pawat Chittsawangdee (Ohm) and Thanaphon Usinsap (Leng) will star as Min, a kidnapper struggling to make ends meet while trying to keep his brother alive, and Q, a wealthy young man Min is hired to kidnap and kill.
Directed by Noom Atthaporn Teemakorn (Midnight Museum – พิพิธภัณฑ์รัตติกาล) The series will premiere on September 6 and will be the first from GMMTV to stream on GagaOOLala for international viewers.
Thai pop sensation Chayatorn Trairattanapradit (Tiu) – lead vocalist of the boy group LYKN (ไลแคน) – has released the first song from the series’ soundtrack, “From Now On” (แค่จากนี้ไปเราไม่ปล่อยมือ). If the series is anything like the music video, it’s going to be incredibly sexy.
The series has been embroiled in significant controversy, sparked by a subset of toxic fans who are struggling to accept that two of GMMTV’s most popular actors, Pawat Chittsawangdee (Ohm) and Korapat Kirdpan (Nanon), will no longer be acting together. This backlash stems from their starring roles in the highly successful 2021 series “Bad Buddy Series” (แค่เพื่อนครับเพื่อน), despite the fact that they had explicitly stated it would be their one and only collaborative project – regardless of how internationally successful it was.
My thoughts: Pawat is an incredible actor. I’ve loved him since the first time I watched He’s Coming to Me (เขามาเชงเม้งข้างๆหลุมผมครับ) at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. as my introduction to the BL genre it’s one of my favorites and since then, I’ve seen nearly every single series he’s starred in – including “Bad Buddy” – and he’s never shared the screen with the same partner twice (excluding the 2023 anthology series “Our Sky”, which is a continuation of “Bad Buddy”). Each lover he takes on, whether male or female, you believe his emotions. While Thanaphon is not an actor I am incredibly familiar with, I am excited to see him take on the role of Q. I have no doubt it’s going to be an incredible series.
More KIDNAP / GMMTV soon so…
Stay tuned!
