Alpha
The lead single from their third album, modeled after the golden age of the Hollywood musical is a colorful dream come true! Blending classic charm with the magic of modern music, Naniwa Danshi are growing up, but they’re still the same sweet, fun, and fabulous group fans have come to know and love!
NEW CLASSIC
A symphony of hope, joy, and self-love – even on the darkest nights, this song was the perfect spring-time Anthem and Naniwa Danshi’s welcomed in the season of new beginnings with their typical brand of light-hearted harmonies and a splash of color to guide you towards a brighter tomorrow!
I Wish
This is one of those videos that invites you, as the audience, to be part of the group’s inner circle, and it makes them even more endearing. As the theme song for the television drama My Second Youth starring Shunsuke Michieda, this sweet and uplifting love song bursts with the vibrant energy of youth, echoing the same infectious charm as their upcoming 7th single Koisuru Hikari. With its poppy melody and effervescent spirit, it’s a joyous celebration of love and life.
Missing
It is my humble opinion, as a Naniwa Danshi connoisseur, that this track is criminally underrated. As the theme song for the gripping mystery drama Knockin’ On Locked Door starring Daigo Nishihata – and Hokuto Matsumura of SixTONES – there’s a sultry film noir vibe to the sound and video that sets it apart from their other releases. Moody, sophisticated, and utterly captivating, if ever there was a dark horse this song is it!
Make Up Day
The theme song for Ryusei Onishi’s television drama Beni Sasu Life, this candy-pop bop is pure, unadulterated fun with an energizing dance beat that is a masterclass in mood-boosting magic!
Special Kiss
This is one of my personal favorites. It’s a tender love song that showcases the group’s debonair darling (and self-proclaimed most handsome member) Kyohei Takahashi wrapped in innocent charm and heartfelt sincerity. The song is also the theme to Takahashi feature film And Yet, You Are So Sweet in his first romantic lead role.
Happy Surprise
To say I was over the moon when Naniwa Danshi unveiled this pastel-hued daydream of a holiday song, would be an understatement. From the shimmering sweeteners to the group’s joyous, energetic vocals, every element blends together in perfect harmony, that perfectly captures the magic of the winter spirit.
Sachiare
Who can resist the charms of a song that embodies the very essence of goodwill and positivity that literally translates to “All the Best”? This vibrant gem is the perfect encapsulation of Naniwa Danshi’s core spirit – colorful, catchy, and irresistibly uplifting!
The Answer
Naniwa Danshi’s sophomore single was a bold shift from their debut. Doubling as their first double A-Side single (paired with “Sachiare”) and the theme song for the mystery adventure series The Files of Young Kindaichi, starring Shunsuke Michieda. It’s sultry, edgy and embraces a darker, sexier sound, in the words of a certain blonde pop princess is simply irresistible!
Beginner’s Love
I could write an entire post on this track alone. As the group’s debut, it’s a confection of bubble-gum sounds and pastel colors that also served as one of the theme songs to the Saturday morning Boy’s Love series My Love Mix-Up! which starred Shunsuke Michieda in addition to Ren Meguro of Snow Man. There’s a comedic whimsy to the video, and an innocent kind of cuteness that introduced international audiences to the brite-pop up beat sound and colorful look that they have become known for.
+Alpha Unit Songs
One of the most exciting parts of the announcement is that the unit tracks from +Alpha will also be available for international listeners! This includes:
- Koiyakedome – Daigo Nishihata and Ryusei Onishi’s an energetic dance song
- Precious One – Shunsuke Michieda and Joichiro Fujiwara’s a country/western serenade
- Ururirurarirari – Kyohei Takahashi, Kento Nagao, and Kazuya Ohashi’s exploration into the sound of Kansai comedy.
