This week’s episodes of My Love Mix-Up had me swooning over the blossoming romance between Half and Mudmee! Puttipong Jitbut (Chokun) and Pathitta Pornchumroenrut (Pahn) bring these characters to life in a way I didn’t think they could. Half’s adorable cluelessness is humorously played against Mudmee’s frustration at it. The dynamic between the four friends – and their respective partners – is spot-on and hilariously reminiscent of my own high school friendships.

Meanwhile, Atom is struggling to find his path after high school. Feeling like the odd duck out, Kong reassures him that he’s got time to figure it out. Atom’s determination to do something special for Kong’s birthday is heartwarming, even if it means taking a job at a small diner run by Sin, his teacher’s boyfriend. Kong’s jealousy towards Atom’s handsome new boss is a nice balance against Half’s inability to see past his own nose. But Atom’s intentions are pure – he wants to make Kong’s birthday unforgettable.

One of the standout aspects of this series is the way it explores the relationships between the children and the adults in their lives. Unlike the Japanese series, we get to see meaningful interactions between the kids and their parents, which adds depth to the story. Atom’s relationship with his mother, played by Nussara Pawanna (Lin), is particularly sweet. Despite her limited screen time, she shines with a knowing glint in her eye – something Atom, like Half, is blissfully oblivious to.

Half’s been obvious since day one

Kong’s conversation with his mother, played by Supaksorn Ruengsomboon (Kratae), about his plans to attend veterinary school in Bangkok is also noteworthy. While it’s a bit more tense than Atom’s interaction with his mom, it’s clear that Kong’s mother is invested in his future. However, that may change as she learns the truth between his and Atom’s relationship. Sin also plays a pivotal role in helping Half make his move on Mudmee and assisting Atom in planning a special birthday surprise for Kong.

This episode is a delightful, feel-good watch. I’m hooked on My Love Mix-Up, and I’m sure you are too! Stay tuned for more!”
