I haven’t looked forward to Saturday mornings much since I was a child. But over the last twelve weeks, GMMTV has had me up and at ’em, eagerly anticipating a new episode of their romantic comedy-drama Wandee Goodday.
Directed by Tanwarin Sukkhapisit, the series stars Sarin Ronnakiat (Inn) as Wandee, a goodnatured doctor, and Sapol Assawamunkongm (Great) as Yoryak, a hungry boxer with dreams of winning the world title. Though their relationship started as a ruse to make Wanda’s original crush, Dr. Ter, played by Suphakorn Sriphothong (Pod), jealous, it developed into a genuine – and very loving – relationship.

First and Foremost, there is a type of magic to all of Sukkhapisit, but it’s especially true with Wandee. She has a way of intricately weaving emotions into her stories, creating such a unique and colorful tapestry. While sex and sensuality are a part of many BL dramas, a lot of the NC scenes feel gratuitous, not in a Sukkhapisit production. They’re threaded in so that they fit seamlessly with the story. Which, if I’m being honest, makes them even more steamy.
Another piece of this puzzle that separates Wandee is the actors’ chemistry. Not just the leads, but ALL the actors. Each one of them was so perfectly cast in their roles.
Thinnaphan Tantui (Thor) and Nattanon Tongsaeng (Fluke), as Yoryak’s older brother Oye and his partner Cher, stole the show multiple times. Their proposal scene was steamy but also brought me to happy tears. While I was familiar with Thor from his role in the 2022 sex comedy The Warp Effect, the only thing I knew about Fluke was his contribution to last year’s Cooking Crush OST.

Drake Laedeke was also brilliant as a sex therapist (and Wandee’s best friend). Plakao and Wandee Goodday gave fans the first BL appearance of GMTV superstar Luke Ishikawa as Sasaki, a fellow boxer and an early rival of Yoryak’s. Sukkhapisit herself made a few appearances as Golf, the owner of the café the characters frequent.
As is custom with most GMMTV BL Series, on the day of the finale, the company announces the pre-order of the boxset—and luckily, Wandee Goodday is no exception. The series will come with discs, photo books, posters, and a plethora of extras.

You can pre order the series wherever Thai media is sold, including eThaiCD.
