That’s right, folks! California-based toy company The Loyal Subjects (TLS) has announced that even more Rainbow Brite products will soon join their ever-expanding line, including a very special character debuting at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC).
Of course, I am talking about the Queen of the Night herself, Moonglow!

Moonglow is one of the newest inhabitants of Rainbow Land, and it is her job to take care of the beautiful colors of night! She gathers the soft starlit hues (dark blues and sparkling star-yellows) and arrays them across the skies after sunset. Moonglow is a quiet, gentle, very angelic kind of little girl. When she walks into a room, she puts everyone at ease. She’s a wonderful storyteller and enjoys having the other friends in Rainbow Land gather around her in the evening at storytime. Moonglow is adept at warding off Murky Dismal’s gloomy pranks. She can wrap herself in a “cloak of evening” and not be seen by anyone, so she’s good at saving the day — or night — in the nick of time!
From her soft pink hair to her adorable Mary Janes, Moonglow is about as cartoon-accurate as you can get! The second 12” rag doll to be released in the series, she will also come with stickers and a box based on the original Mattel design.

The original doll, designed for Mattel by Stefanie Clark Eskander, was released in a dress-up-only version in European territories, so the TLS version is the first official rag doll to be released in North America (Moonglow did see a release as a fashion doll in 2009 through Playmates toys).
Moonglow is one of my favorite Colour Kids, and she and her faithful companion, Night Sprite, inspired the artwork for my cover of Rainbow Land!
Though Moonglow will be making her grand debut at SDCC she is NOT a con-exclusive. The doll, along with several other new Rainbow Brite products are currently available for pre-order on Amazon through The Loyal Subjects official store.
With even more product in development, there will be more Rainbow Brite soon so…
Stay Tuned!
