First, love is never easy. Especially when you’re younger. Add the fact that you’re discovering your sexuality, and emotions are even more crazy. One of the great things about every iteration of My Love Mix-Up is that the story captures that in the purest, most innocent form – and it’s not just Kongthap and Atom; Mudmee and Half are also figuring out their emotions.

After conquering his fear of heights to save Kongthap from a snake bite, Atom realizes that the fear hasn’t entirely vanished. Luckily, Kongthap is right there to lend a helping and slightly romantic hand. The date scenes are some of my favorite parts of the Japanese version, and Gemini and Fourth, once again, did a great job at their interpretation.

I did like that we actually got to see the couple in the theatre and it was a nice touch that the added the character of Mametaro – even if it was the name of the cat who died – it was a great call back to the source material. I also enjoyed how the series showed the characters nervousness and how they both approached their first date. It’s very innocent, but so sweet.

I am also very much enjoying Half and his cluelessness when it comes to girls, especially Mudmee. The introduction of Papang Phromphiriya as the role of the teacher who (in the original) was a bit homophobic was also interesting. He’s seen Kongthap and Atom firsthand. It’s going to be interesting to see where they go and how they handle his short-sightedness now that marriage equality is legal in Thailand.

More My Love Mix-Up soon so…
