Kaito Nakamura (aka Umi) has been cast in the film Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days (矢野くんの普通の日々)! Based on the manga of the same name, Nakamura will take on the character of Hashiba, the most popular boy in school.

“Hashiba is a good guy who can do anything,” Nakamura said in a statement about the film. “He’s good at studying and sports, kind to everyone, and supports his friends’ crushes, etc.”
As Travis Japan’s ‘Pet Tiger,’ Umi is known for his kind and supportive disposition. So, it seems like a role perfectly tailored to who he is. Even so, he was nervous about stepping into the shoes of such a beloved character.
“It was a different type of character from me,” he confesses. “But, with the help of Director Shinjo, my co-stars, and the staff, I was able to make Hashiba my own. Hopefully, my portrayal of Hashiba is one that fans of the original manga will be able to love!”
Much of the filming took place while Travis Japan was on hiatus from their Road to Autehnticy tour to promote their debut album.
“It was such an intense filming set that I felt like I had my youth in that month and a half!” He laughed. “I relived my youth with “Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days,” and it was really fun!”
His third film is an experience Nakamura holds very close to his heart. “It was an important work that allowed me to feel the joy of acting and helped me grow.” He recalls with a smile. “I’m really looking forward to everyone getting to see the finished film!”
The film will release nationwide in Japan on 15 November, shortly after Travis Japan will finish up the international leg of their world tour! I couldn’t be more excited for Umi, or the rest of the group and I look forward to bringing you more Travis Japan content soon so…
