I’m used to Snow Man turning up the heat in their music videos, but in their newest single, “BREAKOUT,” they don’t just bring the heat – they set the whole damn house on fire.

The theme song to the new action-comedy feature Akabane Honeko no Bodyguard (eng: Honeko Akabane’s Bodyguards), starring group member Raul, “BREAKOUT” is a pop-rock, dance-infused fever dream of sensuality and stunning CGI.

The first release from Snow Man’s upcoming double A-side 11th single (with Kimi wa Boku no Mono, aka “You Are Mine”), this song was made for an epic fight sequence in an action movie.

There’s a roughness to the sound, a down-and-dirty sexiness that no one could deliver like Snow Man. Dressed in leather, these men are ready to rock: on the street, in the studio, on the dance floor, in the bedroom – it doesn’t matter. They’ll fight for your love – and they’ll look damn good doing it. And it’s catchy as hell.

The CGI is an interesting touch. Each one of the guys is the master of a digital element. Iwamoto, is king of a world of fire, Watanabe can turn flowers into gemstones, while Abe is the master of the digital grid. Meguro can make flowers bloom, Raul is a space pirate, and Fukazawa has the protection of a giant silver falcon. Mukai is the master of a dark element, Sakuma becomes digital energy, and Miyadate is the king of ice (a good book-end to Iwamoto as the Fire King).

Honestly, there’s a movie in here somewhere. “BREAKOUT” has quickly become one of my top 5 favorite Snow Man releases, and I cannot wait to hear what else is in store for this single.  You can pre-order BREAKOUT/Kimi wa Boku no Mono wherever Japanese music and movies are sold, including CD Japan. First press Limited Editions each come with three 50mm x 27mm acrylic charm keychains (of various members) that will also include a handwritten (printed) message.

There will be more Snow Man soon so…

Stay Tuned!
