Ren Meguro, the Snow Man with the 1000-watt smile – and current Fendi Ambassador – will soon star in a new drama, Umi no Hajimari (海のはじまり) and as a first, he’ll play an actual daddy!  

The project will reunite Meguro with scriptwriter Miku Ubukata and director Hiroki Kazama, who, along with producer Ken Murase, worked previously with him on the hit drama silent.

Meguro will portray the Natsu Tsukioka, who dated his classmate Mizuki during his days at university. Everything was bright and beautiful until it wasn’t, and without warning, she broke up with him. 

Seven years later, he learns that she has passed away and despite the fact that they have not seen one another since their breakup, Natsu decides to attend her funeral. It’s there that he is met with a startling revelation, Mizuki had a daughter, Umi. She’s his.

Embarking on a heart-warming journey, Natsu grapples with the loss of his past love and the revelation of a daughter he never knew. He strives to become the father he’s always wanted to be, and the one Umi deserves.

Umi no Hajimari will begin airing in July on Fuji TV!
