If you’ve read any of BL Reviews, the fact that I am a fan of GMMTV will be no surprise to you. They’re an incredible company with some fantastic series. Only Friends and My School President are two of my favorites, and they showcase the range of the company’s storytelling ability.
The company’s newest BL series, “We Are,” marks the first time GMMTV has aired a series on the iQIYI app for international audiences rather than on their official YouTube Channel. So, for the first time, international audiences will be able to see an episode complete and uncut in glorious 1080 HD without cuts or “next break” bumpers. Which, for me, is an absolutely spectacular development!
Adapted from the novel We are… คือ เรารักกัน by ภารวี the series stars some of GMMTV’s biggest stars, including Pond Naravit, Phuwin Tangsakyuen, Winny Thanawin, Satang Kittiphop, Aou Thanaboon, Boom Tharatorn, Marc Natarit and Poon Mitpakdee.
Pheem (Tangsakyuen) is an art fine arts student, while Phum (Naravit) is an engineer. One day, Phum destroys a painting Pheem has been working on and, rather than apologizing, acts like an insensitive jerk who is only worried about his football. After returning it to him, Pheem gives him a swift kick to his own balls, resulting in a medical bill Pheem must pay back. As an art student, he doesn’t have the money – so he becomes Pham’s slave. Is it the most original of tropes? No. Is it funny as hell? Yes.

Toey (Kittiphop) is the apprentice of Q (Thanawin) but is usually too busy staring at him dreamily to hear anything he’s trying to teach him. I fell in love with these actors in My School President, and the fact that Kittiphop is a sweet space cadet of a bottom shows his range as an actor. He was such a dude-bro in MSP – I love seeing this side of him.

Bottom Line: It’s cute, it’s fun, and it’s a perfect showcase for why GMMTV are the Kings of the genre.
