Thai/Korean hybrid series are intriguing. South Korean dramas (especially BL) are so different than what is currently coming out of Thailand, plus there’s the whole language barrier. But still, some of the series have been incredibly well done – like Peach of Time.

Mew Suppasit, who took the world by storm with his role as Tharn in the immensely successful Thai BL series TharnType, has now become a global superstar. From reprising his role in the sequel series TharnType: Seven Years in Love to making a quick cameo in Why R U? his talent has transcended borders. It’s a proud moment for his fans to see him stepping into the international arena.

Directed by Kwon Nam Ki,  Love is Like a Cat is a romantic comedy series featuring Suppasit as Uno, a famous Thai actor with a past. JM from idol group JUST B (저스트비) stars as Byeol Dae, who works at an animal hospital. Traumatized by animals as a child, Uno hates them – especially dogs. However, when his reputation is tarnished, the only thing he can do to rebuild his brand is work at the hospital with Byeol Dae.

Uno’s character is very guarded by his emotions – almost wooden- and Mew plays him with pitch-perfect precision. JM is so innocently adorable that it’s difficult not to fall in love with him. The series isn’t art by any means, but it is fun.

Love Like a Cat can currently be streamed on the Rakuten Viki app for international viewers.
